My gr-gr-gr-rgeat grandfather, Samuel Weaver, was General Marion's military aide-de-camp. (Samuel was a prominent man in his day. His father, Daniel, was a noted Virginia explorer). Samuel was selected for the position by General Marion because of his appearance: very agile, extremely muscular, broad shoulders, and was seven feet, four inches in height. According to an article I found on early settlers and pioneers in the new Kentucky territory (library at Western Kentucky Univ., Bowling Green), Samuel served a feast of roasted potatoes on pieces of bark to a negotiating British general. This, according to the article, held it's place in history in the struggle for independence.
