Can someone crack the code

While reviewing the North Carolina Revolutionary Army Accounts, I see many individuals receiving 20 LBS and 5 Shillings. I often see as many as 10 to 15 men in sequence with this same amount. My question is, could this be taken from a Militia Roster and is the amount paid for a 3 month enlistment? There are so many 20; 5; in the Army Accounts I must believe that the amount reflects a payment for some time period of enlistment in the Militia.
