Your best bet is to do research in person at the NC Archives, which has a very rich set of records regarding the militia, local Court records that may have some Militia information, manuscripts, you name it.

If he had enough active-duty service he might have qualified for a State bounty land grant, but the vast majority of militiamen did not have more than a few days' active duty.
