Seeking Military Service of Captain Thomas West s/o John West Jr. & Catherine Colville of Fairfax County (Alexandria)married to 1. Anne Payne d/o William Payne & Susanna Clark 2. Elizabeth Hamilton. children Nancy Ann m Martin, Catherine (Kitty) m Turner,& Thomas.In the Papers of George Mason, 1725-1792: 1749-1778 he is referred to as Captain of ship "Cameron".Cameron Run was name of Plantation in Alexandria. The Book By The Fence & Fireside along with several Payne Geneologies always refer to him as Captain Thomas West. In DAR index Ancestor # A123175 has dates that match with name John West Jr. notice future applicates must prove correct service. My question is did Thomas West A. fight as Patriot b. assist Revolution c. fight as loyalist d. other?
