When you ask for a "lookup" you should say what you want a lookup ~in~ (such as name of book, type of document).

Since your query is genealogical rather than about the Revolutionary War, you may find some assistance by posting the query on message boards for the Counties he lived in and the surname.

The DAR Genealogical Research System website lists this man as a patriot ancestor under whom some women joined DAR.

You can look him up there:
http://www.dar.org/library/online_research.cfm

--click through the introductory pages to get to the search form. Once you reach the list of DAR members there is a link to purchase Record Copies of the applications. These are old applications, but the first one might state what evidence was submitted that the member was a descendant of Jeremiah McCartney.

A letter from the Pension Bureau in his pension application file states that he died in 1831 in Montgomery County, NY.

That is where to start your research. If you go to the County office you may find a record of estate proceedings that might identify who his living children/heirs were. The County may also have recorded deeds concerning any land he might have owned. If children sold their interests in his land by recorded deed, the document(s) would identify them.

Good hunting!
