This stone is old - was completely readable twenty years ago but isn't now. It and the one of Richard's wife beside it (who died 26 years later) are of the same design. So it's not a case of a stone being erected long after the fact.
The parts of this stone (and nine other stones of Revolutionary War soldiers in the township and of this stone for the War of 1812) that I've been able to check have proved to be accurate. I'm also working on three other supposed Revolutionary War veterans for whom I have not been able to find any proof.
