Thank you for all your helpful suggestions, most of which I've done or am doing. GenWeb and GenForum are two of my favorite sites. I post queries on every state, county, surname list I can find and update them from time to time, too. I am a true believer in queries and submitted them back when I first started (1965) (before computers) to all the published periodicals all over the place.

My interest in the Rev War Benjamin Rice of Bedford Co, VA was the fact that he went down into the area of East TN where my VA Rice later went. The story I read about Benjamin said he never got a chance to go back to TN. But, you know how that goes, if he thought it was so good he wanted to go back he may have told friends and family members about it and there may be more than a coincidence my Daniel Rice later went there.

In 1785 Daniel Rice and wife Judy sold land in Henry Co, VA. That area at one time was part of Bedford Co, VA, hence my curiosity about Benjamin.

Yes, we have about a dozen FHCs here in Orange Co, CA and one is a regional one and I use it often. I just returned from my third trip to SLC this year and will be going again in January. That trip is to go the UGA Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy and attend a problem solving class. I will be working on my Thomas and Mary Jones in 2011, but plan on working on my Rice line in 2012.

I'm co-chair for our society's annual week long trip each spring to SLC and I learn more by teaching others.

Again, thank you for taking the time to respond to my query.

Happy Hunting (^_^)
