The thing that frustrates me and others is that some women applying for membership in the DAR only list the child they are descended from and don't list the other children. In my applications I always list all children and their spouses in case other women are descended from one of the other children.

Another thing you could try is contacting genealogical societies in Dutchess Co., NY for possible information on your John. I always check out those entities when researching a person or family.
