Mrs. Clara B. Eno
Van Buren, Ark.
In response to your letter of the 20 instant, you are advised that there is no further data on file in the Revolutionary War pension claim Rejected File No. 5,328. of Edward Hudson of Randolph County, Arkansas, than what is contained in the copy of his declaration for pension forwarded by you and herewith returned.
His claim was rejected for the reason that he failed to furnish proof of the service alleged by him.
The Census of Pensioners of 1840 was compiled by the marshals of the several judicial districts, uder the act for taking the sixth census without referencen to the records of this Bureau and is often incapable of verification.
A careful search of the records of the Bureau fails to show any Revolutionary War [Pensioner named Edward Hutson or Hudson alive in 1840.
It is probable therefore that the Edward Hutson of Randolph County, Arkansas mentioned in said publication reported himself as an applicant for pension.
