I have had no reason to investigate York Co. militia (free white able-bodied males aged roughly 16-60) and have not looked at anything by Young.

The way to evaluate his work is to look for specific citations of evidence for what he states plus discussion of evidence where called for. Plus whether his sources actually say what he says they say.

You may be able to get your local library to borrow such books by inter-library loan, once you get specific titles and publication data.
