I just came across your message about the Hessians and thought I would throw out some additional info.
Have you also considered the "other' group of Germans that served in the Rev War? They were with the French Regiment called the "Royal Deux-Ponts", which came over with the French Expeditionary Forces. Some stayed and fought at the Battle of Yorktown. A good many came from the area around Zweibrucken. Try http://gedbas.genealogy.net/pdrsc1
