There is a listing for a person who might be your man in the 17-volume /Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War/, which is arranged alphabetically, here:

http://www.evendon.net/PGHLookups/MaRevWar08M.htm

All able-bodied free white males aged roughly 16-60 (varies by time and place) were obliged to be available for militia duty for defense within the County. Few saw active duty (such as patrolling, guarding prisoners, escorting supplies bound elsewhere), but there are many surviving muster rolls that were created at the time men appeared for regular drills and nose-counting -- not considered active duty.
