All able-bodied free white males aged roughly 16-60 (varies by time and place) were required to be available for militia duty for defense within the County. Quite a few rolls survive that were created when there was a requisite regular drill / nose-counting, that do not reflect active duty service.

The vast majority of militiamen never saw active duty. This is true on the Eastern Shore as well as many other areas.

Since your question is genealogical, rather than about the Revolutionary War, your query might best get a helpful reply on surname and/or County message boards.

You can also subscribe to the lower-delmarva-roots mailing list on rootsweb. Send an email to:

containing just the word "subscribe" (without the quotes) in the title and in the message box, and after you have gone through the easy confirmation procedure you can post a message there. It is a quite active and diverse group, and you may well be able to make contact there with one or more people interested in your target persons.
