German farmers turned militia men
Posted by: Stefan Fetterhoff (ID *****8211) Date: February 23, 2010 at 13:29:55

Nearly all of my grandfathers were German Immigrant Farmers, who were in the militia, from Pennsylvania. (1775-1783)

I was wondering what kind of muskets they would've owned and used while on campaign? Would they have used a 1740 Potzdam Mustket, or could they have gottin ahold of any English arms? (Fusil), or French arms (Fusil de Chasse)?

Thanks,

Stefan
