Looking for any information about William VOWELL, Rev. War soldier. I don't know his date of birth or death, but believe he may have been connected in some way to my gggg grandmother, Elizabeth VOWELL, b. prob. in the mid to late 1750's to very early 1760's and is found in records of Guilford Co., NC. c1770's.

UNC Library online shows:
Muster Roll of (Capt.) John SUMMERS company of the First NC Battalion of the Continental Army, Sept. 8, 1778, Vol. 15, p. 728 - 729.
p. 728 -- 46. William VOWELL enlisted for 3 yr. - May 1, 1776

Return of re-enlisted troops in First NC Battalion of the Continental Army, No author, March 12, 1779, Vol. 15, p. 749 - 750
p. 750 73. William VOWELL Expiration of former enlistment -- 1 May 1779; Bounty paid in dollars - 200

Account of pay to NC troops in Continental Army, Thomas, Abashai: 1795, Vol. 17, p. 189 - 263 Warrenton
Name and rank -- William VOWEL Amount 145. 3. 1 By whom received -- John SUMMERS

There was also another mention of a William VOWELL, a private in 6th Reg., White's Company. He also enlisted 1 May 1776 for 3 yr. I don't know if these two William VOWELLs are the same person.

I'd appreciate any information at all about William VOWELL who served in the Revolutionary War from North Carolina. Thanks very much. Brenda
