I was able to complete the Hessian registration process, for myancestor, with the Schwalm organization. The process isn't much different from other genealogical groups' applicaton procedures.
My soldier has also been used as a Patriot for membership in the DAR, and I submitted him as a supplemental ancestor when I belonged to Sons of the Revolution. This was possible because after being captured with General Burgoyne’s Brunswick army, at Saratoga, he joined the Continental Army, and served for several years until the war was over. The Sons of the Revolution will only accept ancestors who risked their lives for the Patriot cause. The DAR and SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) have less stringent requirements for Patriot service.
The best online resource for German supplementary troops fighting for the British in the American Revolution is the AmRev-Hessian Mailing List pages, here:http://freepages.military.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bonsteinandgilpin/http://freepages.military.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bonsteinandgilpin/
Good luck!
Bill
