There is a man with his name listed in the DAR Index who died in Ill. However anyone wanting to join with him will have to prove his service:
KENNISON, David Ancestor #: A064880
Notice: Future applicants must prove correct service
Birth: (CIRCA) 1764 ]
Death: 24 Feb 1852 CHICAGO ILLINOIS
Service Description: 1) RECRUITED TO SERVE & REJECTED

This isn't much help. I can look at the Mass. Soldiers & Sailors info on Ancestry.com when I get a chance. Hopefully someone will provide some info.
