Need some help....
I am trying to find the father of my 4th great grandfather... My 4th was William Carnes b. 1792 in York County, PA.who emigrated to Ohio with his parents when he was 3 years of age ; his minority was spent in Guernsey and Belmont Counties; in the spring of 1845, he moved to Delaware county, settled in Porter Township, and died in 1876. William's wife's name was Jane Harris before marriage; she was born in Virginia, and came to this State when she was 15 years of age, and was married to Mr. Carns in Morrow Co.
According to the history of one of Wm and Jane's chilren it says "Mr. Carns' grandfather was in the Revolutionary war, was taken prisoner at the battle of Bunker Hill, and was one of three of his company who survived. His father was a participant in the war of 1812.
I have Wm's pension papers from War of 1812.His father was evidently in the Rev. War who was taken prisoner and one of three that survived...
Now I am thinking (was thinking) that his name SHOULD be easy to find... LOL... I am not having much luck...
I am not sure where he was at the start of the War... I just know that in 1792 as that is where Wm was born and then they moved to Ohio... Don't have anything on a death date for Wm's father...
From the different Rev. War sites I have looked at there were several Carnes... I am really looking at John Carnes, but again I am not for sure... Any help would be greatly appreciated if someone could lead me in the right direction!
Thanks!
Juls
