Thank you for the summary.I became interested in this subject when I learned that one of my ancestors, Ralph Farnum, the last surviving veteran of the Battle of Bunker Hill (lived to be 104), was quoted in a Boston newspaper years later about events on the evening of June 16, 1775 preceding the battle.One quote was as follows:
“General Washington rode up to us and spoke a few cheering words.He was wanted everywhere.He was constantly giving orders.He seemed as if he were trying to look cheerful and confident, but he could not conceal his anxiety.”
I now believe that this sighting of General Washington, most likely,occurred some weeks later when he was reviewing the troops in Cambridge.
