Ok I have also found a Jacob Brown, from Washington CO, Tennesse. He was born in Germany, came over to the United States and "Jakob performed his patriotic service during the American Revolution by making and repairing wagons."
There are 2 spellings of his name Jacob Brown and Jakob Braun. The indication that I have is that the spelling was changed between 1760 and 1761 so prior to the war. Also there is indication that his first name was actually Johan but that he went by Jacob. His wife was Elizabeth GOETTGEN.
Thank so very much. After the holiday weekend I am planning to see if my local libary has a copy of the DAR volumes for me to look in.Also I have learned that I have what should be a great resource libary in my backyard.I was looking at SAR to see if they had any resources that might be useful and much to my Pleasent Shock.Their National Headquarters is 3 miles from my home.Needless to say I think I know where I will be spending a great deal of time ;).
