Robert, My gr. grandmother's name was Ann Hope Hart although the Hope (her presumed maiden name) has not yet been confirmed. Anyway, on the record of her last child's baptism at St. Francis Xavier RC Church in Phila. (1870), the name that shows is Ann Amer. Not only that, she was born in PA on May 7, 1827 and died in June, 1885, living all if not most of her life in Philadelphia. I had not come across the name Amer anyplace else till tonight so finding it here on Genforum itself was interesting and when I read your message it was especially interesting. Ann and her husband and children initially lived in the Lemon Hill area of PA/Philly until 1868 or so and then moved to West St. (now Uber). She herself was not Roman Catholic (until her deathbed conversion) but her husband William Hart (Harter) was and so the connection to St. Francis Xavier and later the Gesu Parish. Because of the dates, she could not be the Ann Amer you noted but perhaps could have been a niece or something. Also, William who was German spoke little English so the baptisn records have various versions of his name and hers. Anyway, if this seems like a lead for you, perhaps I could send you whatever other info I have. I am curious if you have addresses for any of the Amers for the years 1850 to 1885. Good luck with your research. John Murray
