Johan Anthon AMENT, York County, PA
I descend from Casper TROUT (1762-1837) and Anna Maria AMENT (1767-1849), she being the daughter of Johann Anthon AMENT (c. 1732-1816) and Maria Magdalena PAULUS (1734-1806), he being the son of Hans Georg AMENT (c. 1683-c. 1749) and Anna Margreth unk.The AMENT's came to Hellum Twp and what would later become Lower Windsor Twp, York, PA by at least 1757, having arrived in Philadelphia from the Palatinate on 19 Sep 1743 on the ship Lydia. The Johann Anthon AMENT tract named "Greenfields" was located just north of present day Margaretta Furnace, Lower Windsor Twp, York, PA.
The Johann Anthony AMENT family relocated to near Lovettsville and Taylorstown, Loudoun County, VA in 1782.He moved with his son-in-law Casper TROUT to Rockingham County, VA in 1807, then on to Muskingum County, OH in 1816 where he died.
My Casper TROUT's father, Paul TRAUT (DRAUT) was a cordwainer (shoe maker) in Hellum Twp in the first half of the 1760's, and attended the same churches as many in the AMENT line.
I am interested in corresponding with other researchers working the AMENT, PAULUS, and TROUT lines in York County, PA; Loudoun, Shenandoah, and Rockingham Counties, VA; and Muskingum, Perry, Morgan, and Hocking Counties, OH.
