My great-grandfather Robert Ambrose a tailor by profession was in Boston, Massachusetts and enlisted in 4th Light Artillery Regiment Massachussetsas a private on 2 February 1864 at the age of 24. He was discharged with distinguished service on 14 October 1865 in new Orleans.
By 1869 he was in London and married, his first child born in Country Cork, Ireland. In 1878 the family came to New Zealand.
It is assumed Robert Ambrose who was born in Country Cork Ireland around 1832 came to Boston to join family there.
Is there anyone researching Ambrose family history in Boston who may be connected to Robert Ambrose.
