Gayle Vivian: I found John D. Ambler (born October 19, 1901) in a book titled "The Ambler Family of Pennsylvania" by Frank Rhodes Ambler Sr., published in 1968 by the Old York Road Publishing Company of Jenkintown, PA. It is listed as having been "privately printed" and with only 300 copies. I waas able to obtain a copy through library interloan from Beaver College in Bever, PA. I was surprised that they would lent it as most genealogical books are not put out on loan. You should attempt to find a copy of this book to study as it is a very complete geneology of the Amblers in PA beginning with Joseph Ambler who came from England to Philadelphia in 1683.
You will be able to trace John D. Ambler back to Joseph Ambler through 8 generations. I can tell you briefly that he was the son of William Stroud Ambler and Elizabeth Buck Wentz. John D. Ambler married Virginia N. Tiedeken on November 12m 1927. They were divorced and he married Christine Rivers on October 19, 1935. They had one daughter, Clara Jacquelin Ambler, b. July 7, 1940. The book indicates that she was not married as of its printing.
