Well, in Austria, we pronounce it kind of Ah-mann. The name is most probably derived vom the german word "Amtmann" (which was a kind of a mayor) and lost its "T" - so actually, aMMann would be the oldest version of this name. I am not sure if there is a RIGHT spelling, and I am not sure either if there are more aMann or aMMann. However, I am an aMann from Austria!
