My grandfather was George Amann. My family lore also indicates the original family came from Alsace, but I'm not sure when. He was married (and divorced-shocking in those days) to Grace La Fromboise in Detroit around 1920. My mother, Grace Josephine Amann was b. in Detroit March 29, 1921. George was born in West Branch, Michigan and died around Kalamazoo in the 50s. He may have had a sister that was a Dominican nun.
