My mother was an Amann, and according to
family lore the family originated in Alsace.

I don't think grandma was born there. Her family
settled in St. Marys (in the hills of central
PA). She moved to Erie sometime after the
turn of the century, married and had 9 kids.

She died around 1945-46. Good old gal!
