My Aman's descend from Phillip Aman who immigrated with
Col Degraffenreid and the Palatines to East Coast of NC
in early 1700 at what became New Bern ("new" Bern). The Palatines were in the Germany/Switzerland area and appear to be religious refugees. Some others immigrated to PA and to NY and I have no connection with them.
You may already know, but there are several reference books in libraries on the history of the Palatines with a lot of their surnames, Ammann and various other spellings. My ancestor was Jorle Ammann in Switzerland.
