Hello-- I'm looking for children or other relatives of Alice Smith Alwood, who died in Calgary in 1984.
Alice's parents were Lafe Smith and Nettie Hamilton, who moved to Alberta from North Dakota. Alice submitted their story to the book "In the Light of the Flares", about the Turner Valley oil fields.
I'm tracing the Smith family. Alice's grandfather (Lafe's father), Charley Smith, was a brother of my great grandfather Frank. Charley and Frank had 8 more brothers and sisters, and I'm tracing all the branches and bringing the lines forward to the modern day.
I'm making a visit to Alberta in spring of 2005. Would love to meet and share information, photos, stories, etc while I'm up.
