Tracing descendent of Alexander Alves

Alexander Alves, born 1770-1771 was also my grgrgrandfather. We have copies of family letters from 1832 to 1891. I would like to contact any descendents of his youngest son, William Alves, who was last heard from living in St. Louis Missouri in August of 1852. At that time her had been married a few months to a Scottish girl from near Glasgow and they were thinking of going to California. Williams's last letter asks his father to write to him but his father had died 2 months before. William was involved in a rebellion in Upper Canada in 1837 and was pardoned with the provision he not return to Canada.
