My great-grandfather was Jose Maria Alvarado, born 21 Nov 1866 in Mazatlan. He wound up in Los Angeles and Married my great-grandmother, Jesus Garcia. They lived in Lankershim (now called North Hollywood). My grandmother, Maria Lucia (Lucy) Alvarado was aware of relatives in the Ensenada area and used to visit them occasionally, although I know nothing more about them. A family story says that his ancestors were relatives of Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado who went from Alta California to Ensenada to investigate business opportunities, and at least one of these brothers stayed in Mexico and married there. That's the story at least. If you have any info that might help me make a connection, I'd be most grateful.
