Alvarado genealogy through Mexico

It was very exciting to see all the Alvarado families searching for their heritage. I live in El Paso, TX. My family came from Spain I believe through the way of Mexico - when the Mexican-American War came half of my family stayed in Zaragoza, Mexico and half stayed in San Elizario, TX.
I don't know much about my genealogy but am very curious - I understand that the first Alvarado in the America's was Pedro De Alvarado who came across with Cortez, I was always curious if that is our lineage.
My father's name was Fidel Alvarado Jr. who died in California, my grandfather's name of course Fidel Alvarado Sr, married to Josefina Tellez -- my great ancestors owned quite a bit of property here in the San Elizario area.
If anyone has any information on the lineage I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you find the Alvarado Crest I am also interested.
Thank you,
and God Bless Our Alvarado heritage
