Hi Darren.There was a Christopher SHIPPMAN on the 1812 Bedford Co TN Tax List.No one knows who this person is.There was also a woman namedChristian SHIPMAN on the 1782 Sandy Creek Baptist Church Roster and no one knows who she is. Daniel SHIPMAN and Jacob SHIPMAN were also on the Church List.This Christian SHIPMAN could be the daughter of Daniel SHIPMAN Jryour (Christina) or (Christian)with the i in the wrong place.
The George SHIPMAN you write of is the son of Edward SHIPMAN SR and he moved his family to Stoddard Co MO in late 1840.George SHIPMAN had a son by the name of William Isaac SHIPMAN who marriedElizabeth W ALTOM
Daughter ofWilliam ALTOM.William Altom was born in SC died 1846 in TN and was the son of James & Phebe Altom of South Carolina (Newberry) other children of James & Phebe were John Altom and Spencer Altom.All appear on the 1820 Lawrence Co TN Census.

I still don`t know who the elderly Lady that is with Geeorge W SHIPMAN nor do I know what his wife Margaret`s maiden name is.But I suspect it is DENTON.
How do you know that George W SHIPMAN married an ALTOM lady?
There was also a Sarah Jane SHIPMAN daughter of John R SHIPMAN son of Jacob SHIPMAN of Perry Co TN that married a David Crocket ALTOM. John R SHIPMAN lived in Carroll Co TN.
