Thanks, Diane, for all of the helpful information. My Alfred Altman was born 3 Feb. 1814 and died 18 July 1891. He was my great, great grandfather. My information came from my Altman grandmother.

From your information I am gathering that my Alfred was the son of Nathan Altman, born in 1768 and that this Nathan was the son of Thomas Altman born c. 1735. Am I correct?

Other questions: Do you know to whom this Nathan was married and if he had children other than Alfred?

Do you have any information on where this Thomas Altman came from and his parents?

Thanks a lot. You must have done a lot of research. Are you related to this line of Altmans?
