Jill Althouse-Wood,
Referring to your April 8, 2002 message about your great-great grandfather, John W. Althouse, John was a brother to my grandfather, Peter L. Althouse. My great-grandfather was also Peter, the one who was married to Mary Ann Roth.
Peter (1821-1873) and Mary (1828-1893) had 9 children, and they were as follows:Fianna (1848-1917) married Andrew E. Shultz; Remon (1850-1857); Elizabeth (1852-1857); Mary Ann (1854-1857); Susan (1856-1916) married Henry B. Eberly; John W. (1858-1919) married Barbara H. Mosemann and Rebecca A. Shimp; Peter L. (1860-1934) married Lizzie A. Wolf and Susan N. Hainley (Peter and Lizzie were my great-grandparents); Eliza K. (1863-1865); and Luesa (1865-1866).
Several years ago I went to Brunnersville where I saw the gravestones for Peter and Mary, and several other Althouses. While my sister and I traveled through the Lancaster County countryside stopping at cemeteries, we accidently saw the gravestone of Barbara Althouse at Hammer Creek Mennonite Church in Clay.At that point, I wasn't aware there was a connection to my family.
Anyway, I have completed a family tree up to Peter and Mary Ann, however, I can't go back to Germany yet.It seems there is little information on our family.
