Thomas Alston of NC and AL
I am interested in the Thomas Alston, son of Willis, who moved from Halifax Co. NC to Autauga Co., AL. According to the Alston Book he married a Chambliss, had a son Thomas whom married a Crum, and they left a family, living in Wilcox Co., AL, detailed in the Alston Book - children married Lovett, Bender, Godwin, McCrary. There seems to be a scarcity of documentation for this. I saw online a bible that spelled the name Alston, Aulston, and Auston and can find scattered possible census references, but nothing of real substance.
There was a Thomas P. Alston who was in Halifax Co., NC [1820], Southampton Co., VA [1830], and Sumter Co., AL [1840] - I had previously thought he was the same man and that the Chambliss wife died, and he remarried twice. This seems to be incorrect and she seems to have lived, at least until about 1827, when Thomas and wife sold Chambliss land in Halifax Co., NC - after the marriage of Thomas P. Alston to his last wife Priscilla Adams.
Information for descendants or documented sources would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
