Edward ALSTON Irons--ancestors
Posted by: Phil Irons Date: September 16, 1998 at 08:22:44
  of 1206

My grandfather, Edward ALSTON Irons, was born in Bridgnorth, England in 1896. He had 2 brothers, Keith and William.

William was Mentioned in Despatches in 1917 as a member of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

Of Keith we have no information.

Edward married Annie Sherwood of Tividale, Staffordshire, on Sept. 30, 1922 after WW1, and had two sons, Donald (my father) b. 11
Nov. 1924, d. Vancouver, BC Canada 14 Feb. 1977 and Peter (last known residence Hull, England). Edward died in Abbotsford, BC, Canada in 1967.

Family legend has it that Edward's grandfather had been a slave in the Charleston area of S. Carolina; however after seeing a film on PBS last night concerning the Alston family of NORTH carolina, I'm beginning to wonder.

Any info about this branch of the family would be appreciated.
