My Alston family is African American. I have traced my grandfather's birthplace to Starkville, Ms (1881). His father and mother, William Henry Alston and wife Laura are listed on the 1880 census as farmers/laborers. My great grandfather was born in Ms in the mid 1850s. The census indicated that William Henry's mother and father were born in South Carolina. While I continue researching census information, I am also looking for Alstons, who owned slaves in Oktibehha County, and/or migrated from South Carolina. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated. My objective is to trace my Alston family to The Alstons and Allstons of North and South Carolina.
