If your William is the son of Wesley Alssobrooks he was likely born in either Wayne or Jasper counties in MS. Many of these Alsobrooks were know to have moved to Hancock County MS after 1850. Basically you will find then in Wayne Co. 1830, Jasper Co. 1840 Scott Co. 1850 and then Hancock Co after 1850. It is likely that your William may have moved to McComb then or after the war.
