Job Almy to Jed. Allen, Shrewsbury (1683)
There appears to have been numerous Job Almy's from Portsmouth/Newport, RI.In 1683, Job Almy of Newport sold to Jedediah Allen of Sandwich, MA his share in the Monmouth, NJ patent, which had been obtained by a group of Quakers from Dartmouth and Sandwich, MA and greater Rhode Island in 1665.Job's deed for the Shrewsbury land included everything except where Job's house stood.
Which Job Almy would have been the likely seller in 1683?
Does any Almy or related family have a copy of the 1665 patent mentioned that shows all of the names involved? My descent is sprayed across multiple Quaker families at Sandwich, Dartmouth and Portsmouth/Newport in the late 1600s [Allen, Almy, Gifford, Howland, Slocum, Smith, Tucker, etal to name a few].
The Shrewsbury Monthly Meeting records do not go back far enough to help me in the 1665-1685 era to isolate who may have been there early, but perhaps then returned to MA and RI after the end of the King Philips War.
Thanks for the help.
