Lois:
August didn't change his name at all, neither in Sweden nor in the US, his lastname is Andersson because his father's name is Anders. Likewise Anders Larsson's father's name was Lars, and Kristina Pettersdotter's father's name was Petter.
I saw your new query on the Sweden forum, with more details on August Andersson and his wife Matilda. The closest on the Emigrant CD, although not an exact match, is this:
Husband: Johan Andersson, age 38
Wife: Matilda, age 35
Children:
Anders, age 11
Anna, age 10
Karl, age 7
Ester, age 1
From Norra Vånga parish in Västergötland.
Emigrated through Gothenburg port 5 April 1892, destination Munsons [for one of them it says just Munson, no US state is mentioned].
Forename of husband doesn't fit with your man, but his full name could have been Johan August.
The neighbouring parish 7 km NW of Norra Vånga is called Öttum, and there's another parish 17 km W of Norra Vånga called Önum. One of them could be your "Ohusun".
You didn't mention any names of the children, so I don't quite know what to look for.
As for your question on course of action to start looking in Sweden I recommend:
