I have found the information I sought. Betsey's (corrected spelling) parents were Augustus Allyn, 1843 to 1902, and Cornelia Fortney, 1849 to 1885, and she was apparently born in 1871 rather than 1873.
I got this information from the Ancestry.com world family tree, so it is only as good as the research that went into it. I will be verifying it over the months to come.
This tree follows Betsey's Allyn ancestors back through Augustus through his parents, Jonathan E. Allyn, 1798 to 1873, and Roxana A. Lamb, 1814 to 1879, to Jonathan's parents, William Allyn, dates unknown, and Sarah Falsom, 1784 to unknown.
If anyone has further information about these particular Allyn ancestors, especially William Allyn and backwards, I would appreciate hearing. Thanks,
