My family are also from Brassington. My great grandfather was named Thaddius and I believe he was the brother of Phinaeus. There is a Thaddius Allsop in the 1881 census when he was one year old. I am assuming there was only one Thaddius Allsop and one Phinaeus Allsop. Thaddius was the son of Robert Allsop who was 27 in 1881. Unfortunately there was another Robert Allsop around at this time so it would be unwise to make any more assumptions. I haven't had time to delve any deeper.

Incidentally my grandfather was Jervis and my father was Gilbert. Jervis ran West End stores in Brassington before the second world war.
