Hello David!
This is Darrell Rains from spavinaw,OK. and I am interested if you have the childrens names of your Joab my gggrandfather was b. 1805 in Randolph Co. North Carolina his name is Zion Rains and some say George Zion Rains but all the census I see it's Zion. I believe he had a brother named Joab who was b. 1809 in OH. and they are in the 1860 Hickory CO. MO. census their families are with them Zion being the oldest. My ggrandfather was Lt. William Robert Rains b. 1837 in Highland CO. OH. and he is in the 1860 census Hickory CO. MO. with his wife Jemima Jane Simpson. they were in Van Buren Co. Iowa in 1850 where Martha Rains was born this was Zion"s last child but I could not find a census for 1853 Iowa census which would have had William Rains in Zions household. if any of this makes sense let me know.
