I am thoroughly confused and hope you can help straighten me out.

Elizabeth Allred, b 1747, was my 5th g grandmother. I was always told her parents were John J. Allred, Jr. and Margaret Chaney, although I cannot verify this. Elizabeth married William Horner, Sr. 8/17/1767 in Randolph Co., NC. Obviously, if Margaret Chaney was born about 1750, she cannot be my Elizabeth's mother!!

Do you have any information that would confirm John as Elizabeth's father? Do you know who Elizabeth's mother was?
