Dottie (or Travis)

I don't recall any conversations between us in the past. Here's what I know (not much) about your line: My records show Stephen Jr.'s family as (1)James Calvin (my great grandfather, b. 1-7-1848, Panola County, Texas; d, 10-5-1910, Laneville, Rusk County, Texas////(2) Mary Jane Allred, b. 1850, Panola Cty; married James P. Howard 11-2-1869 /// (3) William Henderson, b. 8-6-1853, Panola County, d. 11-16-1920, Hallsville, Harrison County /// (4) Martha Ann, b. 1854, Panola County, d. 6-12-1869. You probably know that Stephen Jr. died just about a month after Martha (story is that he was shot while returning from town, but whodunnit???) He only lived from 1824 to 1854; another book shows James P. Howard's marriage to Mary J. Alred (only has one "l") 2-11-1869. I only did minimal digging on the Allreds outside my direct line. I am currently wrapped up in researching one of the families on my mother's side of the family. Hope this little bit helps. You may be able to get further information from the Historical and Genealogical Library (Old Jail) at 213 North Shelby; Carthage, Texas 75633. Their phone number is (903) 693-3388. Another source would be Teresa Barkat, an Allred descendant who DOES look seriously at all lines outside her own line. If you are interested, email me back, and I will get her email address for you. Also, I have a Panola phone book with several Howards listed. Where are you located? Keith Allred
