Good Afternoon Heather,

I tried emailing you at the email that was listed here and it came back as failed mail. So I am sending it this way!
I believe you are correct in saying we would be 7th cousins.
Yes- I always get excited when I find "live" cousins too! Thank you for the referral to the Don Norman website - I have used it as a basis to get started and am working on finding his same proofs as well.

About a month ago my husband and I made a trip to WV for a 2 day stay in Lewis County and while there became a member of the Hackers Creek Pioneer Descendents. Wow! What a wonderful resource! Along with those 2 resources and the West Virginia Culture Website with birth, marriage and death records..I have been having a heyday! 8-) I had only previously chased Allmans in Ohio and decided to give it a shot in West Virginia. Boy! Am I ever glad that I did! I have also been using Find A Grave website as well to help me out and have become friends with a gal in Jane Lew who has taken photos of some of the Allman tombstones in Lewis County by posting them to Find A Grave..check it out if you haven't done so! 8-) Double check some of her marriage dates though...

My Allmans were my great grand grandparent Eleanor "Nellie" Allman 1836-?the wife of George C Allman (1827-1878) and daughter of Jacob Allman and Elizabeth Marks. My situation was complicated by the fact that my great grandfather was also an Allman - His parents were Abraham Allman and Winifred Crites. Eleanor/Nellie and George not only were husband and wife but half first cousins! Their daughter Sarah Margaret "Maggie" Allman married Abraham aka Abel Gates in Vinton County, Ohio. My grandfather was Charles Fremont Gates and my mother Opal Marie Gates Page..my maiden name was Page.

I am unsure of where to begin to know what to ask you! I am doing census work on the families in Lewis county and have a bunch of xeroxes to enter obituaries, marriages and births from the Hackers Creek Museum ( 200 pages my hubby copied for me!) I hated to start school as we started the 20th of August and I had all these goodies to read and enter! Now I have to wait for the weekends and we will have 2 days off for the county fair at the end of September but we may make a flying trip back down to Lewis County and do some more research! It reminds me a lot of our area of Ohio with the hills but a bit taller, and a lot more hollers and ridges! It will be pretty in the fall though I am sure.

I guess maybe I should try to send you the files as I have it and use it as a starting point for us! Until later I wish you the best!

Best wishes,
Randy Sue Page Mc Keever
