RINGGOLD, LA - Funeral services for Doris A. Scott, 92, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Ringgold, La. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Bro. Ronnie Osborn.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold, La.
Mrs. Doris was born on October 23, 1917 in Fountain Hill, Ar. and passed away peacefully on January 17, 2010 at the Grace Home in Shreveport, La. She was retired business woman and a former president of Bienville Parish School Board. After retiring, Mrs. Doris enjoyed spending time helping others and quilting in the First Baptist Quilting Bee every week. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Ringgold, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence William Scott, Sr.; an infant son; her parents, John William and Tempie Marie Aliison; four brothers, James, Noel, Herbert, and Quinton Allison; and three sisters, Inez McGilton, Barbara High and Estelle Locke.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Sara Scott Arnold and her husband Carl of Shreveport, La.; and her son Lawrence William Scott, Jr. of Ringgold, La.; one brother, Bobby Allison and his wife Norma of Fountain Hill, Ar.; two sisters, Lois Ford of Arlington, Tx., and Olive McNiece and her husband Dr. Dewey McNiece of Brandon, Ms.; three grandchildren, Brandon Scott Lawson of Shreveport, La., Jeremy Scott and his wife Kristy of Ringgold, La., and Julia Campbell and her husband Jimmy of Many, La.; close family friend Margaret Morgan of Ringgold, La.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church in Ringgold, La.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. G. Scott Phillips, M.D., Ringgold Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and The Grace Home in Shreveport, La. Rockett Funeral Home
