the family talking about his grandfather was Ell (short for Ellison/Allison, probably who he was named
after also), and remembers there was a Mary Stone. He is just going by what he remembers the family
talking about.

was Mary Gray, and she was Mary Gray. This generation probably didn't know the history of Mary's life.
