Hi Helen, According to D. Ziegler Mohr's posting on Genealogy.com my Allison line begins with Thomas Allison (1659-?) who was born in Scotland and married a Catherine in England. Mohr makes several assertions about Thomas Allison’s heritage that are hotly disputed in some subsequent postings. In any case, this Thomas Allison is supposed to have arrived in America on the ship John ‘Adventure on 6/14/1679. Evidently, Catherine and his children did not join him on his voyage because my direct ancestor and their firstborn, Thomas William Allison (1679-1779), was a farmer and merchant back in Scotland. Thomas William had at least two brothers. Thomas William’s firstborn child was my direct ancestor Archibald I. Allison (4/15/1708-1779). He had nine siblings. He married Mary Margaret, and they had nine children including their second born and my direct ancestor John Allison. Thomas William died in Antrim Township, Cumberland, PA. John Allison (1729-1790) married Jane/Jean Brownlee (1730-?) who was the daughter of Archibald Brownlee and Agnes Margaret Hamiltin (sp?). John and Jane/Jean had seven children including their fifth born and my direct ancestor Thomas Allison. John died in Greencastle, PA. Thomas Allison (1752-1834) married Jane Crawford. They had six children including their fifth born and my direct ancestor Ellen/Eleanor Allison Morrison, the wife of Thomas Morrison. To the best of my knowlege at this time, none of these people ever lived in Alabama or Tennesee, but I cannot prove that beyond doubt. I do have more specific information about some of these people should you want it. All the best, Frank Winslow Notify Administrator about this message?
